Datastick Reporting System(TM) software for PCs adds post-processing power and Microsoft Vista compatibility

SANTA CLARA, CA, APRIL 30, 2008 -- As part of its ongoing mission to make life easier for its customers, Datastick Systems, Inc., today announced that the new version 1.81 of the Datastick® Spectrum software suite for its PDA-based VSA(TM)-series Vibration Spectrum Analyzers, and Vista-compatible version 1.85 of Datastick Reporting System PC software ship this week. The upgrades are available as free downloads for existing users of Datastick's VSA-series analyzers. Datastick VSA-series analyzers are used in predictive maintenance.

One of the most significant enhancements is the addition of post-processing capability to Datastick Reporting System version 1.85 PC software. Customers can now use vibration waveform data alone to produce FFT spectra of acceleration, velocity, or displacement on their pc. This can cut collection time by as much as half by reducing the need to collect spectrum data on the handheld.

"For our customers, time is money," says Michael Scandling, Datastick's Vice President of Marketing. "The best vibration analysis comes from looking at both waveform and spectral data, but it takes time to collect them both. Now, all you have to do is collect waveform data -- you can generate the spectrum later at your desk. Of course, if you want to look at a spectrum while you're out collecting data, you still can. The choice is yours."

Datastick Spectrum 1.81 software for the handheld computer adds the ability to create vibration decibel (VdB) spectra with a unique display optimization that helps significant vibration peaks stand out on the screen.

"Conventional display of decibels can make peaks hard to see," says Steve Sabram, Datastick President and CTO. "We've developed a way to let the user reduce the display of irrelevant noise and make those peaks pop out. It's a night-and-day difference."

Datastick Spectrum displays waveform or FFT spectral information on one screen on the PDA. In addition to VdB, data can be shown in terms of acceleration, velocity, or displacement as well as overall vibration.

After the data is captured on the PDA, the user exports it to Datastick Reporting System software on a Windows XP or Windows Vista PC for analysis and trending.
