New 12-Language Speaking Translator Includes Chinese, Korean and Japanese!

LAS VEGAS, Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jan. 8 / -- Franklin Electronic Publishers (AMEX:FEP), a world leader in electronic handheld information, will unveil its new 12-Language Speaking Global Translator (Model TGA-490) at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), at booth 36232, located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Franklin's new handheld contains over 450,000 words and 12,000 phrases in twelve languages and features recorded human speech providing accurate and clear pronunciation of words and phrases in all twelve languages. The TGA-490 provides business and leisure travelers a comprehensive pocket-sized tool for communication around the world. Users can translate back and forth among the twelve languages and hear proper pronunciation in each language.

This communication tool was specially designed with the non-Asian language speaker traveling to the Far East in mind. It displays Chinese, Korean and Japanese words phonetically in Romanized alphabet form, as well as in Asian characters. This new pocket sized device has all the essential functionality the savvy traveler needs and even includes an MP-3 player, in addition to its currency converter, world clock, alarm, and voice recorder. Franklin packs all this functionality into a unique design with a footprint about the size of a PDA, including a slide out keyboard and a rechargeable battery.

"International travel is projected to rise considerably," said Mike Crincoli, VP of North American Operations. "This projected growth presents Franklin with a viable market opportunity to reach both the international business and leisure traveler. The content offering and versatility of this device empowers the user to be successful in a global marketplace where now even foreign travelers can finally hear pronunciations and translate Asian languages into a character set they can more easily read."

The 12-Language Speaking Global Translator includes: Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish and will be available beginning next month at http://www.franklin.com/ and select retailers.

Franklin recently introduced a powerful non-speaking handheld 12-Language Global Translator (Model TGA-470) with similar features and functionality which is available now at http://www.franklin.com/, Borders, Amazon.com, Skymall and other fine retailers.

Both products will be on display at the 2007 International CES trade show (Las Vegas, NV) located in the South Hall, section 4 booth 36232.
