Papers are invited for ASTM International Symposium on Fracture Mechanics Applied to Metallic Medical Materials and Devices, which will be held in Tampa, FL on November 16, 2011. Objective is to provide updated set of presentations on fracture mechanics principles as applied to fatigue, fracture, and life predictive methodologies involved in metallic medical materials and devices. Interested presenters/authors must submit 250-300 word abstract by December 16, 2010.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Papers are invited for the ASTM International Symposium on Fracture Mechanics Applied to Metallic Medical Materials and Devices to be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Fla., on Nov. 16, 2011. Sponsored by ASTM Committees E08 on Fatigue and Fracture and F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, the meetings will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 13-18 standards development meetings of the committee.
The objective of the symposium is to provide an updated set of presentations on fracture mechanics principles as applied to the fatigue, fracture and life predictive methodologies involved in metallic medical materials, such as 304, 316L, MP35N and other commonly used stainless steels as well as Ti-6-4, Co-Cr, NiTi, and devices such as peripheral stents and prosthetics.
Interested presenters/authors must submit a 250-300 word abstract by Dec. 16, 2010, online at www.astm.org/E08symp1111.htm. You will be notified by Feb. 16, 2011, of your paper's acceptability for presentation. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI). JAI is an online, peer-reviewed journal for the international scientific and engineering community (www.astm.org/JAI). Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for JAI are due online no later than Nov. 2, 2011, at the ASTM Editorial Office.
