Waltham, MA (September 26, 2005) - The Food Processing Machinery Association (FPMA) has appointed Edward Goldman, senior vice president at Foster-Miller, Inc., to its Board of Directors. Goldman's 30 years of experience in developing products, equipment and custom machinery and managing projects for a range of commercial clients contributed to the decision by FPMA's members. The election was held during FPMA's Annual Meeting, September 11-13 in Oakbrook, Ill, where Goldman and James Olive of General Mills delivered a presentation entitled "Engineers and Processors: Transforming Ideas into Innovation."

"Mr. Goldman's role in driving new product and equipment innovation has contributed significantly to the advancement of the food processing industry," said George Melnykovich, president, FPMA. "We feel that Mr. Goldman's expertise and strong standing among other industry thought leaders will be instrumental in helping us better serve our members."

As a product and process equipment design and development company, Foster-Miller has helped numerous food manufacturers develop market-leading products, supporting them from concept design through equipment build. Goldman will leverage this wide-ranging expertise to guide FPMA's more than 300 current members, who rely on the organization to provide a forum for communication and timely information on industry trends.

Goldman currently leads Foster-Miller's Commercial Equipment Group and has been responsible for conducting and directing commercial and government-sponsored design and development work in mechanical engineering and materials processing. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and a master of business administration from Boston College. At M.I.T., Goldman was the recipient of the Admiral Luis de Florez Award for Ingenuity.
