Forklift Distributor Ready to Face the Future

Thompson & Johnson Equipment Company expands to overcome recession.

Dewitt, NY - November 16, 2009: The Fourth Quarter 2009 issue of The MHEDA Journal, the leading online magazine for the forklift, storage and handling, and general material handling equipment industries, features a profile of material handling equipment distributor Thompson & Johnson Equipment Company.

Thompson & Johnson was founded in 1955 and is a distributor of lift trucks, pallet trucks, skid steers and other material handling equipment. Headquartered in East Syracuse, New York, with facilities in Elmira, Vestal and Albany, New York, Thompson & Johnson covers a territory that extends to western Vermont and Massachusetts, and northeastern Pennsylvania. The company experienced sales of $30 million in 2008.

In a down market, President and CEO David Schneckenburger chose to expand the company by building a new branch in Vestal and adding to the company's Elmira location while remaining focused on delivering top-notch customer service. "Customers appreciate being treated fairly," Schneckenburger says. "They want us to help them reduce their expenses, and reducing expenses doesn't mean staying with the cheapest product. When customers give us the opportunity, we can do a great job for them and help them thrive."

Schneckenburger adds, "We have a simple mission statement tagline: "Delivering Our Promise." That starts with selling leading products in the industry. We strive to sell top-end products because quality lasts and price doesn't."
