Flextronics Releases First Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) Report and Hosts Inaugural CSER Conference in Shenzhen, China

SINGAPORE, Aug. 26 -- Flextronics (NASDAQ:FLEX) issued its 2009 Corporate Social and Environmental (CSER) report at its first annual CSER conference, which took place today in Shenzhen, China to update stakeholders on the company's key social, ethical and environmental achievements. This year's report, which can be read or downloaded from Flextronics' website at www.flextronics.com/about/cser/default.aspx, comprehensively describes Flextronics' CSER program, known as FLEXpledge, across core areas including stakeholder engagement, CSER development and management, ethics and governance, employee programs, environmental sustainability, and community partnerships.

"At Flextronics, we believe that a sustainable approach to business is essential to our company's success and forms a core part of the way we do business. Adherence to the highest level of sustainable business practices also creates additional value for our customers that we believe increases their market competitiveness," said Mike McNamara Flextronics' chief executive officer. "FLEXpledge is a powerful catalyst toward improved sustainability practices because it creates strong internal and external communities that allow us to attract, retain and mobilize stakeholders such as employees, customers and suppliers. FLEXpledge also instills confidence in our employees and encourages them to always choose the right actions, even if those choices are more difficult or costly."

McNamara continued, "A strong culture of ethics will encourage, support and reward ethical decision making and I take great pride in Flextronics' sustainability results. I am proud to have had the opportunity to share these with stakeholders through our Shenzhen conference and through our report that is available today."

Flextronics' CSER report provides comprehensive updates on the company's:

o Ethics and Governance codes, including Flextronics' Code of Business
Conduct and Ethics that sets the standard for business integrity
throughout Flextronics and its Corporate Compliance Program that
directs the day-to-day integration and management of ethical practices
into the organization.

o CSER Deployment programs, which ensure that CSER policies are fully
operational across global sites through site leader education,
employee training, certifications and site audits. Audits assess
compliance across categories including fair labor, environmental
health and safety (EHS), ethics and governance, management systems and
community partners.

o Employee Centered programs that provide a range of support services to
ensure that employee health, safety and well-being remain central to
Flextronics' global operations. For example, Flextronics' Safety 900
program, which is a set of assessment and safety improvement tools,
has realized a consistent increase in workplace safety scores since
its inception. Flextronics' full range of learning and development
programs empower employees to self-direct individual development and
career growth.

o Environmental Sustainability programs, where Flextronics' focus is to
safeguard employees, business partners, customers, community and
natural resources from environmental risks. This is achieved through
policies and a 5 x 5 environmental strategy which includes the Five
Pillar Environmental Framework and the Five Element CLEAN program.
These practices oversee critical elements of global environmental
protection for Flextronics and its stakeholders. Furthermore, as a
founding member of the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition
(EICC), Flextronics works diligently to ensure every link of its
supply chain contributes positively to the environmental soundness of
every product it produces.

o Community Partnership programs include the Flextronics' Foundation,
which has made significant financial contributions to multiple NGOs
worldwide to support improvements across a number of community based
needs. These outreach programs enable the building of sustainable
communities wherever we operate.

o Supply Chain CSER Compliance policies and procedures establish the
requirements for Flextronics supplier(s) adherence to CSER practices
through supplier training, assessments, site audits, and corrective
action measures when required.

o Stakeholder Engagement programs, where Flextronics has established
joint work sessions with non-governmental (NGO) associations and
industry groups to collaboratively identify ways to enhance
transparency and to continuously evaluate and enhance labor and
environmental standards.
