Firwin Corp, a Toronto-based manufacturer of removable insulation blankets and permanent insulation solutions, reached two new milestones recently, obtaining UL2200 certification, while upgrading its existing ISO certification to ISO 9001: 2008.
The UL 2200 standard is geared specifically to Stationary Engine and Generator Assemblies. The purpose of the standard is to ensure that generators have been designed and built to guard against risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to personnel.
"Some of our customers who are generator builders have been coming under increasing pressure to be UL compliant", said Paul Herman, Firwin's president. "Although we have always held ourselves to high quality standards, it wasn't until recently that we began getting requests from customers as to whether our blankets were UL compliant."
The UL certification applies to Firwin's standard insulation blankets, with either FW1200 or FW1800 insulation.
A year after obtaining its ISO 9001: 2000 certification, Firwin recently had its ISO certification upgraded to ISO 9001:2008. "We view the ISO requirements, along with its regular audits, as a vehicle to help us continually improve our quality and communication processes", said Paul Herman, Firwin's president.
With its ISO 9001: 2008 and UL 2200 certifications now in place, Firwin Corp continues its pursuit of superior quality and customer service.
