Press release date: February 17, 2009

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (Feb. 17, 2009) - Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, challenges customers to see if they're up to speed on electrical safety. With the educational Protection Intelligence Quotient (PIQ) program, solar power design engineers, specifiers, electrical professionals and equipment manufacturers discover how much they know about the hazards that can hurt people, equipment and investments.

Nicholas Carter, the October winner, received a $300 gas card for taking the online test, available at http://us.ferrazshawmut.com/solarPIQPR. A vice president of training from Santa Rosa, Calif., Carter used a portion of the prize to purchase public transit vouchers for a "greener" means of travel.

Carter said the quiz helped him to gauge his circuit protection knowledge, and he isn't alone.

"When reading feedback from the PIQ test takers we're clearly filling a need for circuit protection and safety information," said Stephen Colvin, Vice President of Marketing at Ferraz Shawmut. "The PIQ program has provided such positive feedback that we're offering a new series of tests this year."

Ferraz Shawmut recognized one participant each month through the end of the year. The November winner was A. Haulman, a consultant from Bakersfield, Calif., and T. Stayer, an application engineer from York, Pa., received the December prize.

For further details on the PIQ Test, please send a request to info@ferrazshawmut.com, or visit http://us.ferrazshawmut.com/solarPIQPR. The 2009 program runs through Dec. 31, 2009, with no purchase necessary to enter.
