Fast, Easy-to-Use Configurator Now Available for Rexroth Electromechanical Cylinders

Rexroth's online configurator enables machine designers to configure a customized Electromechanical Cylinder for their design within minutes. EMC cylinders bring greater flexibility and control to applications traditionally using hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders.

(Charlotte, NC - www.boschrexroth-us.com/brl) The new online Electromechanical Cylinder (EMC) Configurator tool from Bosch Rexroth allows machine designers to quickly and easily configure a customized EMC cylinder to incorporate into their machine design. The configurator, which generates CAD files upon completion, helps users determine cylinder size, stroke, motor configuration and mounting accessories. EMC cylinders bring high thrust, high speed capabilities with greater flexibility and control to applications traditionally using hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders.

When EMC cylinder size is pre-determined, users simply define the parameters using the "Selection by size" function, then use the configurator to select required stroke, and choose from a variety of motor configuration types and mounting accessories. If the appropriate EMC cylinder size is unknown, the configurator offers a "Selection by force" function where average or maximum force can be input. Based upon identified force, the configurator generates a list of EMC cylinders and motors available to perform for the application. Then, the configurator walks the user through the process of defining the required stroke, motor configuration type and mounting accessories.

Once all selections are made, the user chooses from a variety of CAD export file formats, and an email containing the specified EMC cylinder views in the requested file format is generated and sent within minutes.

EMC cylinders contain a precision-rolled ball screw actuator for high positioning accuracy and repeatability while eliminating stick-slip effect. The low-maintenance drives are highly efficient, cutting energy costs and offering an environmentally friendly alternative to hydraulics. EMC's combination of power, speed and corrosion-resistant construction makes them ideally-suited to applications in packaging and material handling, assembly and robotics, wood manufacturing, metal forming, plastics, paper converting and web handling.
