FalconStor Software Customized to Support Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Now Available

FalconStor IPStor, TimeMark and Snapshot Agent for SQL Server Enhance Backup and Accelerate Recovery for Database Environments

MELVILLE, N.Y., December 12, 2005-FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, announced that its IPStor' Enterprise Edition software, TimeMark' and Snapshot Agent for SQL Server support Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and are now generally available.

Today's news builds on the existing FalconStor and Microsoft relationship, this time supporting the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. FalconStor's IPStor solution offers rapid and reliable backup and recovery services via application-aware, client-based snapshot agent technology specifically developed for SQL Server. The IPStor snapshot agent for SQL Server 2005 enables reliable snapshots of the active database with point-in-time consistency and transactional integrity, working seamlessly with TimeMark to minimize downtime with quick time-to-restore, even if the data is spread across multiple drives and locations.

"Successful businesses rely on SQL Server to maintain a high level of enterprise data availability and run their critical applications on an advanced data storage management system," said Don Petersen, senior product manager for SQL Server at Microsoft Corp. "With the FalconStor solution, customers can experience enhanced application and data availability as well as storage management capabilities, which provides our mutual customers with a backup, restore, and recovery regime that helps protect their data against errors."

With its standard open architecture, IPStor software interoperates with SQL Server 2005 to provide customers with advanced storage virtualization features, intelligent storage management capabilities and services to help ensure that their environments are highly available, better protected, and easily managed. TimeMark provides administrators with the ability to instantly recover a single file or an entire volume back to a known good point in time, and is integrated with FalconStor's snapshot agent for SQL Server 2005. Users can take advantage of the combination of IPStor software, TimeMark and the SQL Server Snapshot Agent to bring a database copy online without going through any lengthy database rebuild process to roll back to previous transactions. This can save many hours of valuable time in the case of a disaster.

"Companies dependent upon SQL Server databases require storage solutions that offer end-to-end data protection, since they cannot afford to lose any operational uptime or valuable business data," said Don Mead, vice president of marketing for FalconStor Software. "With the seamless interoperability between SQL Server 2005 and FalconStor technology, customers can quickly recover from any hardware, software, or network failures, and maintain ongoing operations without downtime for non-stop data availability."

FalconStor has an ongoing and consistent track record of working with Microsoft to help ensure interoperability between Microsoft and FalconStor solutions. FalconStor technology has already been tested as interoperable with and supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows Storage Server 2003, and Exchange Server 2003. FalconStor also embraces a host of other Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2006.
