Fadal to Feature Mold and Die Machining Demonstrations at EASTEC 2007

Los Angeles, California - Fadal will feature machining of medical components as well as molds and dies on its CNC vertical machining centers at EASTEC (W. Springfield, MA, May 22-24, 2007).

The new 3016FX and 4020FX VMCs, equipped with Fadal GE Fanuc 0i-MC controls, will be going through their precision machining paces on molds for consumer electronics and other products. FX machines include rigid box-way construction, Steinmeyer ETA+ dual-mounted ballscrews and advanced software for programming, operation and troubleshooting. The machines feature 1,000 IPM rapid traverse and an 8,000 RPM spindle. X/Y/Z axes travel of machines in the FX series range from 22" X 16" X 20" (559mm X 406mm X 508mm) on the 2216FX, to 40" X 20" X 20" (1016mm X 508mm X 508mm) on the 4020FX.

In addition to rapid-steel and mold machining demonstrations, a guitar neck woodcutting operation for a Taylor Guitar is planned using a second 4020FX.

The Fadal VMC 4525 with GE Fanuc 18i-MB5 control will also be exhibited. With 45" X 25" X 24" (1143mm X 635mm X 610mm) X/Y/Z travel and a 53.5" X 25" table (1359mm X 635mm), the 4525 is a robust machine with heavy cast iron construction and high-torque spindle, which reduces cycle time for heavy cutting operations including steel.

Fadal's unique Cool Power and large 40mm diameter ballscrews enable the 4525 to deliver tolerances of ±0.00016. The 4525 with Fanuc 18i MB5 control is scheduled to perform high-speed machining on a stainless steel medical part.
