Press release date: January 20, 2011

ETTERS, PA. (January 20, 2011) -- FCI, a leading developer of connectors and interconnect systems, announces that its High Power Card Edge (HPCE(TM)) product has been named a finalist for a 2011 DesignVision Award in the Interconnect Technologies and Components category. Products are chosen for their visionary design, cutting-edge technology and innovation. DesignVision Award winners will be announced on February 1 at the DesignCon® 2011 conference and exhibition (January 31 - February 3 in Santa Clara, California).

The HPCE connector is a next generation power card edge connector with ultra-low contact resistance for low power loss and very high linear current density. It utilizes innovative stamped-and-formed power contacts and a unique housing design to deliver increased power in a more compact and lower profile package. The low profile height (<= 7.5 mm for maximized airflow) and high linear current density (180A/inch with multiple contacts energized) make it ideal for demanding AC and DC power supply and/or add-in card applications in next generation 1U/2U servers, storage enclosures, telecommunications equipment and datacom/networking equipment.

"We are pleased that the HPCE power card edge connector has been chosen as a finalist in such a competitive category," said John Dodds, global product marketing manager - power products, FCI. "The connector industry always exhibits its newest and best products at DesignCon. To be recognized in this way is an honor for our design engineers and a tribute to FCI's commitment to innovation."

The HPCE power card edge connector, along with other leading edge high-speed and power products from FCI, will be displayed February 1-2 in booth #417 at the DesignCon 2011 conference and exhibition.
