ETTERS, PA (September 27, 2006) - FCI, a leading manufacturer of connectors and interconnect systems, announced that Amphenol TCS has signed a second-source license agreement for the AirMax VS® 2-pair and 3-pair connector products, in addition to the AirMax VS 4- and 5-pair licenses it already holds. With today's announcement, Amphenol TCS has second-source rights for the global manufacture, marketing, and sale of the entire AirMax VS backplane connector family.

FCI's AirMax VS connector is a revolutionary high-speed, shieldless connector system that exhibits excellent signal integrity at speeds from 2.5 Gb/s to greater than 12 Gb/s without requiring a basic platform redesign.

The AirMax VS system provides designers flexibility in backplane signal routing and fabrication though the ability to vary column spacing without impacting electrical performance. The AirMax VS two-piece header and receptacle connector system is currently available in 2mm and 3mm column spacing.
