North American Industry Executive Steve Hamilton to Ensure Reliability, Safety of GEH Operations

WILMINGTON, N.C. - February 3, 2011 - GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has named nuclear industry veteran Steve Hamilton as its new global quality leader as the U.S.-based nuclear energy alliance company is preparing to deliver new reactor projects around the world. GEH's commitment to quality ensures that its nuclear technology and operations provide a safe and reliable source of energy.

Hamilton has more than 29 years experience working in the nuclear industry, including 12 years at Progress Energy's Brunswick Nuclear Station in North Carolina, where he held positions with responsibilities in radiation protection, radioactive waste management, chemistry, environmental monitoring and outage management.

He then became president of PN Services, which specializes in the chemical cleaning and decontamination of nuclear reactors, as well as for Waste Management Technical Services, a company responsible for shipping cask design, manufacturing and transport of nuclear material, environmental monitoring and training at the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site in Washington.

Prior to joining GEH, Hamilton served as vice president of quality and performance for the French nuclear technology company, AREVA, Inc., reporting directly to the CEO of the company's North America division. Hamilton's responsibilities included quality assurance, performance improvement, industrial safety, technical training and regulatory affairs for North America. He also spent four years as AREVA's senior executive responsible for the Canadian nuclear market.

"Steve's experience in nuclear businesses both domestically and internationally-including the development of required infrastructures, identification of key talent and continuous improvement programs- make him a great addition to our team," said Caroline Reda, president and CEO of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. "He has the unique background required to understand the breadth of our global fuels, services and new plant activities and that quality is a priority across all of our businesses."

Hamilton earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and completed graduate work in nuclear physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also earned a master's degree in business administration from Colorado State University.
