Press release date: October 1, 2010

Alliance, OH - Winkle Industries, an ISO 9001:2008 Registered facility has unveiled its recent expansion to their Ohio operation, designed to support continuing growth in the firm's range of products and services.

The 15,000 sq. ft. expansion of Winkle's existing 75,000 sq. ft. office and production plant adds much-needed warehousing space as well as a detached mobile equipment garage. Over the past several years, Winkle has been aggressively diversifying its range of products and services for customers in the steel, recycling and mill-related industries, with a significant increase in aftermarket support and mobile equipment services to complement its traditional engineering and manufacturing operations.

According to Joe Schatz, President of Winkle Industries, the driving force behind the company's growth has been as a result of customers' increasing demands for "single-source" relationships for material handling products and services. He goes on to explain, "We have taken on contractual obligations to stock larger inventories of assemblies and renewal parts in order to strengthen the ongoing partnerships we have with our customers". This expansion is largely dedicated to increase our inventory capacity, while freeing up more space for production requirements. We appreciate and support the need for up-time and parts availability and we will continue to meet our customers' expectations."

Capacity for continued growth Winkle built its existing facility in Alliance, OH, in 2003 with administrative and engineering offices fronting a multi-bay state-of-the-art manufacturing and storage area. With the new additions to the rear of the building, more of the original space has been allocated to house work centers for machining, fabrication and assembly.

Now providing a complete range of engineered products and devices for mill-duty material handling applications, Schatz reports that production has increased as much as 80% in the plant since it was built almost 7 years ago. Staffing, meanwhile, has increased over 60%. Much of the growth is attributed to increased sales of magnetic and mechanical lifting devices, new products and services for mobile material handling equipment and aftermarket components. In addition, Winkle has launched a new venture, LiftTech Industrial Services, which specializes in on-site maintenance management, technical support and field repairs for material handling systems.

Construction of the plant addition was contracted to Dynamic Structures of New Waterford, OH, and required four months to build.

About Winkle Industries Winkle Industries is a worldwide leader in engineered solutions for users of mill-duty material handling equipment. Winkle's ISO 9001:2008 facilities provide end-to-end design, manufacture and complete support for below-the-hook magnetic and mechanical lifting devices, above-the-hook electrical and mechanical crane products, on-the-ground material handling equipment, engineering services, aftermarket services, machining and fabrication.
