Advanced Solution Gives A&D Leaders a Secure Way to Collaborate with Global Manufacturers and Suppliers

HERNDON, Va., July 26 / - Exostar, the leading provider of technology powering secure collaborative supply networks, today launched ForumPass 3.0, a major upgrade to the company's project and design collaboration solution. ForumPass is currently used by more than 350 companies - including Boeing, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman and Rolls-Royce - to securely collaborate among their industry partners. The new version delivers the industry's most secure platform to manage design- and program- related business processes in a neutral, hosted environment.

Companies today increasingly compete based on their ability to leverage and coordinate their extended value chain, including strategic partners, suppliers and customers, often located around the globe. ForumPass 3.0 allows customers to overcome the barriers of time, location and enterprise boundaries, creating high-performing, virtual teams.

Exostar's ForumPass is ideal for project management activities across the product lifecycle, from bid development to design, production and aftermarket support. Currently these processes often leverage unsecured e-mail or, for large engineering files, courier services that add days or weeks of wasted shipping time and data security risk to the process.

Customers can configure ForumPass to enforce strict process and workflow requirements such as those related to engineering change control. At the same time, it provides a flexible toolset for simple, ad hoc, collaboration including file-sharing and Web meetings. To meet best practice requirements, all information and user activity within ForumPass are controlled and auditable based on industry-leading security and identity management technology.

Exostar's ForumPass is particularly valuable supporting design-related activities with CAD-neutral viewing and mark-up functionality. "The ability to establish virtual teaming environments and manage the flow of engineering information in a secure manner is critical," said Rene Nibbelke, Head of Office Applications, BAE SYSTEMS. "With ForumPass, we have achieved real cost savings. The most significant impact has been the speed with which we can now agree engineering changes with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in different countries and different time zones."

Highlights of the new capabilities in the ForumPass 3.0 upgrade include:

o New CAD-neutral viewer for drawings and documents

o Improved import / export features with faster and multiple file transfer capabilities

o More flexible process and approval workflows

o Numerous new and improved features to help users save time and collaborate effectively

Exostar offers ForumPass on a Software-as-a-Service basis. The simple, subscription-based pricing includes all software, hardware and hosting fees as well as end-user support via Web-based training and call centers. Customers have the flexibility to scale utilization to meet their evolving collaboration requirements.

"With greater expectations on manufacturers, working effectively with suppliers and customers around the globe is considerably more challenging," said Bill Angeloni, CEO of Exostar. "With ForumPass 3.0, companies of all sizes and industries can extend their businesses beyond their four walls to efficiently and securely meet market requirements."
