Algonquin, IL, June 27, 2008 - Exact Metrology, Inc. has recently added a Leica Geosystems HDS6000 scanning system and software to their long-range scanning equipment toolbox.
The addition of this portable High-Definition Surveying(TM) high-speed laser scanner further increases Exact Metrology's long-range scanning service capabilities including structural analysis, historical and legal archiving, and online virtual showcases and tours.
"Our portable scanning technology allows our team to take detailed 360° x 270° snapshots of any structure, plot of land, plant or process operation with millimeter accuracy" says Dean Solberg, Principal of Exact Metrology, Inc. "The HDS6000 greatly improves our ability to quickly and accurately scan complex, hard-to-reach, and even dangerous environments. It's given us the freedom to take on a wider variety of jobs, including a recent job scanning the pipe levels of a nuclear plant, even in the containment area."
The HDS6000 unlocks the full potential of ultra-high speed, "phase-based" laser scanning technology for fast, productive, as-built surveys. Advances in portability, phase-based range, data quality, and tilt sensor integration help Exact Metrology to deliver improved scan quality and lower project costs. The HDS6000 features an ambiguity interval longer than that of competitive models, allowing laser returns up to 79m (259') away to be uniquely analyzed and calculated. Additionally, the maximum scan density has been doubled, increasing the range at which smaller objects and targets can be accurately modeled.
