Press release date: May 6, 2009

Seattle - May 6, 2009 Evluma, a manufacturer of energy efficient SSL lighting products, has signed distributor agreements with two of nine Electric Utility Distributor Association (EUDA) members: General Pacific Inc. (GenPac) and Western United Electric Supply. These agreements bring their premier LED lighting product, the Clearlight NEMA Type 5 lamp, to electric utilities in the Western regions of the USA. EUDA is an association of nine co-op owned stocking distributors that have "always been a 'yardstick' for industry price, availability, and service."

The Clearlight NEMA Type 5 lamp is a 40W LED replacement lamp for NEMA Type 5 'dusk till dawn' outdoor fixtures. Historically, these fixtures use up to 175W Mercury Vapor (MV) or 150W High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps. The LED lamp invented and manufactured by Evluma in Seattle, Washington is a durable, energy efficient alternative to these older technologies. With a power factor of 0.9 and the ability to bypass the legacy ballast, the Clearlight uses 80% less electricity than a 175W MV lamp, says the company.

Prior to signing these agreements, Evluma was selling and sampling their lamps in small quantities around the country while they collected feedback. "This product has been well received by many of the co-ops we've been talking to. There is great demand for an economical retrofit of these fixtures, frequently found in rural areas, that is energy efficient and doesn't require the installation of a whole new fixture. Working with EUDA members to distribute this product is right for us," says Keith Miller, President and CEO of Evluma.

"Our team at GenPac is excited about the Evluma LED lighting product available today and innovative LED lighting products yet to come from Evluma," says Mike Crumbaker, VP of Sales and Marketing at GenPac. "It is terrific that not only a USA based company, but one in the Pacific Northwest is making such remarkable lighting products to meet the needs moving forward for our utility customers. Both conservation friendly and dark sky compliance are a big value set for our customers looking for ways to reduce consumption while maintaining and often improving what can be seen by the human eye."

Evluma uses an active cooling system that maintains the lamp below thermal junction temperature delivering an estimated L70 at 70,000 hours or longer. Because of its unique LED driver design the same 40W Clearlight lamp can replace any wattage NEMA Type 5 MV lamp up to 175W and any NEMA Type 5 HPS lamp up to 150W. Dark sky friendly, the lamp's designed light cut-off reduces light pollution.
