Etigra Acquires Super Boll® and FreeFall® Cotton Products from DuPont

WILMINGTON, Del., and CARY, N.C., Feb. 8 /- DuPont (NYSE:DD) and Etigra today announced that Etigra has acquired the DuPont Super Boll® brand ethephon trademark, registration and assets, as well as the DuPont FreeFall® brand thidiazuron cotton defoliation trademark.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The DuPont amad-enhanced ethephon brands, CottonQuick® and FirstPick(TM), were not included in the assets sale.

"These acquisitions are perfect additions to our product line-up for cotton growers," said Randy Canady, Etigra chief operating officer. "We are committed to growing our business to help our distributor customers continue to offer growers access to the crop-protection tools they've come to rely upon."

Cotton growers will continue to have access to Super Boll® and FreeFall® from Etigra through their current distribution channels. Growers should contact their dealers or visit Etigra.com for more information on Etigra, Super Boll®, FreeFall® and other Etigra products.

"This agreement allows us to narrow our focus to bringing our latest innovations to the agriculture marketplace," said James C. Collins, vice president and general manager, DuPont Crop Protection. "We are seeing very strong interest in new products in our pipeline, such as DuPont(TM) Altacor(TM), Coragen(TM) and Prevathon(TM) insecticides based on our Rynaxypyr(TM) chemistry. We are also excited about our new weed control options such as the recently registered Agility(TM) herbicide for wheat, and Enlite(TM) and Envive(TM) herbicides for soybeans."

Super Boll® brand ethephon is a single active ingredient plant growth regulator, used primarily to accelerate the opening of mature cotton bolls and to enhance defoliation for earlier harvest in cotton. It is also used to promote early, uniform yellowing in mature tobacco to reduce curing time. FreeFall® is used for removal of leaves prior to harvesting and also inhibits regrowth after defoliation. These products complement Etigra's current line of cotton products.
