Class 1 Division 2 is required in operations involving hazardous environments. Typical industry applications include oil & gas, mining & aggregates, military, defense, petrochemical industry applications and more. This new certification proves that Ethernet Direct is committed to providing truly rugged design and industrial rated products for mission critical applications.

Hazardous environments are defined by the National Electrical Code (NEC). These areas can be typically exposed to fire or explosion hazards may exist due to flammable gases or vapor, flammable liquids, combustible dust, or ignitable substances. By acquiring Underwriters Laboratories' (UL) certification for Class 1 Division 2 applications, selected Ethernet Direct Industrial switches and Industrial media converters are now UL/cUL approved to be used in these types of hazardous locations.
