The 1200 series distinguishes itself from other metal detectors through its implementation of pulse induction technology and state-of-the-art electronics to detect tramp metal in even the most challenging applications. These applications range from coal and limestone to highly conductive ores or minerals such as magnetite, massive sulfides or pyrites conveyed on steel corded belts with rip detection loops or metallic clips.
A total of seven models are available with sensitivities ranging from 10 percent to 1.5 percent of the aperture height. The coil design allows a maximum tramp metal size to be user-defined so that smaller pieces can be ignored. One model allows the discrimination of magnetic and nonmagnetic tramp metal so that the metal detector's relay output can engage a downstream Eriez Suspended Electromagnet to automatically remove magnetic metal without stopping production. Another design allows the user to define the diameter and length of long objects such as rebar or ceiling bolts so that conveyor transition points may be protected against rips and tears.
The 1200 series are competitively priced, easy to use and require little maintenance. Installation is non-invasive because there is no need to cut the belt. Most of the detectors include a swing-away design, which allows the transmitter bar to "swing away" in the event that product overburden hits the detector. Other models have a field-adjustable aperture height to accommodate varying burdens. The specially formulated FRP construction is lightweight, weatherproof and suitable for dusty applications.
