Envelope Adhesives Explained in Comprehensive Brochure from National Adhesives


BRIDGEWATER, NJ, Dec 18: A new brochure from National Adhesives provides a general summary of the various types of adhesives or "gums" that are used to manufacture envelopes in the U.S.

The eight-page brochure, entitled "Envelope Adhesives 101," explains the critical role adhesives play in quality envelope manufacturing and provides information on the five most common types of adhesives used in envelope production. It also explains the function of specialty adhesives designed for applications such as X-ray film storage envelopes, archival envelopes and envelopes made with translucent paper stocks.

Information on the adhesive properties required for various envelope applications is provided. In addition, the brochure provides adhesive formulation data, a coating-weight chart for various paper stocks, as well as a chart that details the layflat, dry film thickness, adhesion, humidity resistance, tack, appearance and other characteristics of different adhesive types. Illustrations and photographs of various envelope types are included.

Additionally, the brochure explains the best practices for the handling and storage of finished envelopes and includes answers to 12 commonly asked questions regarding envelopes and envelope adhesives.
