Trio of awards validate Entrust's innovation and leadership in smartcards, government credentialing and certificate management
DALLAS - Entrust, Inc. was honored three times during 2011 Government Security News (GSN) Homeland Security Awards Nov. 14 in Washington, D.C. Entrust's security solutions were bestowed awards for the Best Integrated System for HSPD-12/FIPS 201 Compliance, Best Smartcard Solution and Best Certificate Management Solution.

The GSN Homeland Security Awards judging panel consisted of three respected leaders in various fields. The GSN presented 45 technology awards divided into three important categories: Outstanding Vendors of IT Security Products and Solutions; Outstanding Vendors of Physical Security Products and Solutions; and Most Effective Federal, State and Local Government Agency Programs, Projects and Initiatives.
As further validation of its HSPD-12/FIP 201 solution offerings, Entrust announced Tuesday a four-year, $4.5 million agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to continue providing hosted PKI services and digital certificates as the security infrastructure for HSPD-12 initiatives. An incumbent in the re-compete proposal, Entrust has provided managed public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions and services for the GSA's credentialing program since 2007.
"It's important for organizations to consider security solutions and platforms that are proven and trusted across a number of different verticals and environments," said Conner. "This demonstrates a high level of interoperability and real-world success in a variety of industries, furthering Entrust's core mission to provide the most trusted and reliable identity-based security solutions."
The PKI framework automates the management of digital certificates that are used by individuals, applications and devices. This helps enable security services such as strong authentication, integrity of digitally signed data, physical access to buildings and facilities, and the protection of encrypted data to an organization using public-key cryptography.
