Society of Manufacturing Engineers Uploads Dozens of Videos to YouTube

DEARBORN, MI, April 15, 2008 - Next time you're looking up a popular YouTube® clip, take the time to explore the "greatest video hits" from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). More than 60 short and informative SME videos have been uploaded to this immensely popular viral site and have already generated a buzz with more than 200,000 hits.

"I like to think of YouTube as video for the people and by the people. So whether you are an engineering student or a practicing engineer, it's a very accessible, user-friendly and viral way to discover manufacturing trends and processes," explained Mark Tomlinson, SME executive director and general manager. "The videos give brief, easy-to-understand snippets of manufacturing's most in-demand or "need to know" processes."

"We are really excited about the thousands of hits our videos already have generated," added David Rembiesa, associate video producer at SME who headed up the project. "Our forging video alone has registered 18,000 hits. YouTube is a fantastic way to showcase SME's many offerings as well as to connect with the online engineering community and young people who may consider a career in engineering."
