Press release date: December 22, 2010

Oslo, Norway, November 22th, 2010 - Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has expanded its EMEA sales team with the appointment of Matthias Sicard as Area Sales Director of its Western Europe Region, covering France and Spain. Based at Energy Micro's new Paris Office, Sicard will provide local support for the company's rapidly growing ARM Cortex(TM)-M3 based EFM32 Gecko range of ultra low power microcontrollers.

Matthias brings with him eight years experience of semiconductor design and application engineering with Texas Instruments and Schlumberger. He moves to Energy Micro from a role of Regional Application Manager at Texas Instruments, where he headed a team of field application engineers covering France and North Africa for low power microcontrollers and RF ICs. Matthias holds a masters degree in electrical engineering from ESIEE (Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs en Electronique et Electrotechnique), Noisy-le-Grand, France.

Energy Micro's VP Sales EMEA Jürgen Hoika said, "With Energy Micro's advanced microcontroller technology appealing to a variety of energy sensitive applications such as smart metering and home automation, countries including France and Spain are presenting us with tremendous opportunities for growth. With the appointment of Matthias Sicard we now have a very experienced Sales Director on board who is well placed to support our customers in the Western European region."

Consuming a quarter of the energy required by other 8, 16 and 32-bit microcontrollers, Energy Micro's first product, the ultra low power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family was launched in October 2009 and is in full production. The company has since announced details of its software and pin-compatible Tiny Gecko and Giant Gecko products, offering a comprehensive choice of package and memory size options.

Matthias can be contacted at: Energy Micro 6, rue Lionel Terray 92500 Rueil-Malmaison France
