Energy Efficiency, Productivity, Reliability: Siemens Presents Water and Wastewater Solutions for Municipalities and Industry at IFAT Entsorga 2012

Energy efficiency, productivity, reliability: Siemens presents water and wastewater solutions for municipalities and industry at IFAT Entsorga 2012
Reliable, energy-efficient solutions that can help boost water and wastewater treatment productivity will be Siemens' focus at this year's IFAT Entsorga.

At booth 325/526 in Hall A1 of the Messe Muenchen Trade Fairgrounds in Munich, Germany, Siemens will be demonstrating solutions that enable municipalities and industrial companies to reduce water and wastewater related operating costs while enhancing plant performance. Visitors will also be offered insight into the technology company's extensive technology portfolio. On display will be filtration and disinfection devices as well as systems for the automation and control of municipal and industrial treatment plants. Rounding off the trade fair presentation will be solutions for water transportation and distribution as well as measurement instrumentation.

At its booth in Hall A1 at this year's IFAT Entsorga, Siemens will be demonstrating ways in which manufacturers and municipalities can drive down their water and wastewater treatment operating costs by using energy-efficient solutions. The technology company's booth will feature products taken from various fields of application: membrane filtration, high purity water treatment, disinfection, wastewater clarification, biosolids treatment, integrated system planning and controls as well as the measurement, control and regulation of water flows. With the solutions displayed at the fair, Siemens will be demonstrating how it combines its comprehensive expertise around the treatment of water and wastewater with its automation and control technology know-how to create energy-efficient components and intelligent control systems to drive down costs and enhance productivity.

The product innovations to be featured by Siemens at the show will include such highlights as the Vantage M83 reverse osmosis system. This system, offered in three different equipment models in Europe, was developed for an array of industrial applications in fields as diverse as the food and beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical, microelectronics and solar industries to produce water of a specific quality. In addition to its compact design, the Vantage M83 system is very economical. The equipment models that feature variable frequency drive (VFD) controlled feed pumps, for instance, resulting in potential energy savings ranging from 15 up to 60 percent compared to conventional in-line starter controlled pumps. Unnecessary water consumption is also prevented during the plant start-up phase by continuously returning the water to be purified back into the purification circuit until it reaches the required standard of quality instead of discharging it. Other benefits include simple system commissioning and user-friendly touchscreen controls complete with a clearly understandable trend display. Clean in Place (CIP) technology is also offered for the Vantage M83 system, which minimizes the work involved in cleaning the plant.

Siemens will also be presenting the new electrolytic chlorination plant Osec B-Pak system for the manufacture of sodium hypochlorite at IFAT Entsorga. The Osec B-Pak system is available in a choice of four configurations capable of producing sodium hypochlorite solution at an hourly output rate of 1.25, 2.50, 3.75, or 5.00 kilograms of chlorine for disinfecting drinking, process and pool water. The sturdy electrolysis cell and automated plant controller ensures a high level of operating reliability. The new Siemens electrolytic chlorination systems for disinfection come ready-mounted on a skid with a small footprint for maximum space savings. Designed for maximum ease of servicing, the systems permit fast maintenance to reduce downtime and minimize operating costs.
