Walled Lake, Michigan, October 6, 2010. - EnKon Systems has recently designed and built hydraulic scissor lifts to allow easy wheelchair access to the Lincoln historical homes in Springfield, IL. Custom made for pit mounting, each lift is flush with the ground level when closed, and flush with the home entrance level when fully raised. Numerous safety features were incorporated into the lift systems enabling the Natural Park Service to accommodate customers who cannot climb the homes' stairs.
The lifts' safety features for this application can also be incorporated into lift systems for manufacturing plant applications. Safety features include; Safety Toe Stop that immediately stops the lift's downward movement if touched; Automatic Curb Stop that stops the lift's movement if depressed by any object, and automatically depresses when the lift is closed; Captured Wheel Guides that prevent the lift's platforms from tipping; Safety Skirting that protects from pinch points and debris; and matching home color aluminum railings.
The lift systems' controls are located within a column than complements the home's design, and displays the large Up/Down/Stop buttons for easy lift operation. External hand controls were also provided so the Natural Park Service employees could operate the lifts from the homes' entrance levels.
