Emery Neitzel receives Distinguished Service Award.

Emery (Pete) Neitzel, Receives AMCA International Distinguished Service Award



Arlington Heights, IL USA-Pete Neitzel, former AMCA President, and Retired Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing for Greenheck Fan Corporation in Schofield, Wisconsin, received the Air Movement and Control Association's (AMCA) highest honor for distinguished service, not only for service to AMCA but the HVACR industry as a whole. The award was presented to Mr. Neitzel during the AMCA Annual meeting held this year in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada, by current AMCA President, Denis Labelle, Executive Vice President of T. A. Morrison & Co. Inc (TAMCO) of Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

AMCA International's Distinguished Service Award is presented only when someone such as Mr. Neitzel who has dedicated themselves, and their career to the improvement of the HVACR Industry, and the betterment of the environment. AMCA International Executive Director, Barbara Morrison, stated that "Mr. Neitzel is deserving of this prestigious award," and went on to say, "during his years of service to AMCA, the association experienced unprecedented growth, and increased strength of the Certified Ratings Program Internationally as well as in North America."

Throughout his lengthy career, Mr. Neitzel has been an active participant and strong supporter of AMCA International. He served on several of the association's technical committees and assisted with the development of many AMCA publications and standards. He served as Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee on Sound from 1986-1994; Chair of the Engineering Standards Committee from 1993-1996; and Chair of the Air Movement Division from 1998-2000. Mr. Neitzel was elected to the Board of Directors in 1999 and served on the Executive Committee and as AMCA International's President in 2005-2006.

In addition to his involvement with AMCA International, Mr. Neitzel has contributed to the development of standards for other trade organizations including the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE); Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL); and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He has published and presented many papers on HVAC equipment design, testing and application.

Mr. Neitzel began his career with Greenheck in 1973, and held numerous positions within the company with increased responsibilities including Technical Director; Manager - Research and Development; Manager of Engineering; and Vice President of Engineering. In April 2001, he was promoted to Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing holding this position until his retirement in January 2008. Pete's responsibilities included alignment of the company's investments in plant, equipment, and systems, and providing leadership to Greenheck's business units in the areas of product development, engineering and manufacturing. Additionally, Mr. Neitzel was directly responsible for research and development testing, advanced manufacturing engineering, in-house tooling and equipment design and manufacture, engineering and manufacturing systems, sales and operations planning, and supply chain management.

Mr. Neitzel and his wife Mary have three children, Jennifer, Beth and Keith, and reside in Rothschild, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Everest Area Optimist's Club, ASHRAE, and ASTM. The Neitzel's enjoy golf, hiking, curling, canoeing, hunting and many other outdoor activities.
