Emerson Presents Digital Automation Services and Technology that Helps Platforms and FPSOs "Start Early, Stay Safe, and Run Long"
Exhibits center around digitally smart production, smart migration of existing assets, and smart LNG solutions
OTC, HOUSTON, TEXAS (May 1,2006) - Process automation represents a small percentage of offshore owner/operator investment, but returns millions of dollars in project savings, early startup, efficient and reliable production, long life cycles, and daily production. At OTC 2006, Emerson Process Management, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), shows how the company can help platforms and FPSOs start early, stay safe, and run long.
Emerson's OTC centerpiece displays the company's expertise and PlantWeb® digital automation technologies that are used to build smart production solutions for new deep and shallow water projects, smart migration solutions to extend the life of aging existing assets, and smart LNG solutions to address growing market needs.
"Automation of production presents many challenges, and we are ready for these," explained Dave Reif, global vice president of hydrocarbon industry marketing and sales for Emerson Process Management. "Our industry experts lead MAC and MIV teams to automate production, using digital smarts for predictive safety, shut-in avoidance, and low lifting costs."
"We pride ourselves in helping make our customers fastest to first oil and gas, optimizing their throughput, and delivering complete remote capabilities for unmanned operations," continued Reif. "Beyond projects, we have an unequaled ability to extend the lifetime of existing assets through expert audits of existing automation, and recommendations with justification for effective upgrade migration."

"For LNG, our digital technology is growing as an important means of improving each function during liquefaction, transportation, and regasification," commented Mark Kennedy, director of LNG business for Emerson. "We help customers establish a data rich environment for understanding the condition of critical LNG processes and equipment, as well as predicting when and where malfunctions may occur."
Surrounding its centerpiece display are Emerson's broad range of technologies and solutions that power its marine and offshore automation solutions. These include:
o A simulator presenting comprehensive asset optimization capabilities by using Emerson's AMS(TM) Suite predictive maintenance capabilities for operations and maintenance improvement
o Offshore consoles, remote I/O applications, and skid capabilities
o The new DeltaV(TM) Operator Training Solution (OTS), a complete simulator-based learning environment designed to prevent operator error which can result in accidents, product loss, or costly shutdowns
