Emerson Partners with Cavium Networks to Develop High-Performance ATCA, AdvancedMC, and MicroTCA Packet Processing Blades

Madison, WI. November 28, 2007-- Emerson Network Power's (NYSE: EMR) Embedded Computing business today announced that it has partnered with Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM) to develop a family of high-performance ATCA, AdvancedMC, and MicroTCA packet processing blades based on Cavium Networks' OCTEON processor family. The new blades will make it easy for network equipment providers to add scalable, high-performance Level 2 through Level 7 packet processing capability to next-generation, open architecture communications networks.

"The OCTEON family offers unprecedented packet processing throughput, scalability, and programmability," said Rod Anliker, senior program manager at Emerson. "This announcement highlights Emerson's work with Cavium Networks to develop open architecture blades that take full advantage of the OCTEON's unique capabilities while making it easy for network equipment providers to integrate those capabilities into the next generation of ATCA, AdvancedMC and MicroTCA systems. Emerson's open architecture hardware, software, and systems expertise, coupled with our worldwide manufacturing, service, and support capabilities, make us uniquely positioned to deliver best-in-class packet processing solutions based on the OCTEON processor."

"Emerson is an international company with true global reach, and has been a pioneer in the development and early adoption of open architecture telecom standards," said Tasha Castaeda, senior strategic alliance manager at Cavium Networks. "This combination makes them a strong partner for deploying world-class OCTEON-based packet processing solutions that can be readily integrated into next-generation ATCA, AdvancedMC, and MicroTCA communications systems."

The OCTEON family of high-performance, low-power, multi-core MIPS64 processors provides hardware acceleration for intelligent networking applications requiring high-performance Layer 2 through Layer 7 processing. These software-compatible processors, featuring one to sixteen cnMIPS cores, integrate next-generation networking interfaces, a memory controller, advanced hardware packet processing, QoS, TCP, multi-core scaling, pattern matching, compression/decompression, storage, security, and the latest processor peripherals on a single chip.
