Emerson Network Power to Focus on Trends and Technologies Shaping the Data Center at AdaptiveXchange 2006(TM)

Columbus, OH [August 25, 2006] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity, today provided a preview of what the industry can expect from AdaptiveXchange 2006(TM), October 18-19 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Bob Bauer, group vice president, Emerson, said this year's show provides an excellent platform for evaluating the trends and technologies shaping the future of critical IT facilities, including increased equipment densities, rising energy costs, data center consolidation and network convergence.

"The pace of change in information technology is accelerating, creating both challenges and opportunities for individuals responsible for the direction and operation of critical facilities," said Bauer. "AdaptiveXchange is designed to give attendees new ideas and insights that will help them anticipate new technologies, adapt to changing requirements, enhance their business continuity plan and support future business strategies."

AdaptiveXchange, formerly called Incredible Universe, attracted more than 2,000 IT, facility and data center managers to Columbus in 2004. This year's event features expanded participation from technology manufacturers Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sun; 89,000 square feet of exhibit space showcasing simulated data center, computer room, telecommunications and remote network environments; and 48 technical sessions. The event, sponsored by AFCOM and the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), will also showcase new technologies and services surrounding high-density blade-server cooling, high availability power protection and distribution, proactive performance monitoring, and more.

Along with the latest solutions for mission-critical power, cooling and monitoring, event highlights include keynote presentations by Bauer and Dell Chief Technology Officer Kevin Kettler, as well as an industry panel on heat density.

Bauer's keynote presentation will share the results of Emerson Network Power's research on the state of today's data center and follow the driving trends-convergence, rising power and heat densities, and skyrocketing energy costs-into the future. It will provide a glimpse into how the most innovative and adaptive data centers in the world are advancing business-critical continuity and how today's innovations may become tomorrow's best practices.

Kettler will discuss the future of the data center, including the evolution of associated power and thermals, standardization, and scaling out instead of scaling up. With more than 21 years of experience in the personal computer industry, Kettler is currently responsible for the design, development, and performance analysis of core architectures for the Dell product portfolio, which includes client, server, storage, imaging and consumer products.

The industry heat density panel will feature representatives from the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), as well as chip, server and cooling system manufacturers, discussing solutions in development that promise to enable densities beyond 30 kW per rack.
