Emerson Network Power Unveils Industry`s Largest Customer Test Center for Assessing Performance, Interoperability and Efficiency of Power Systems

Columbus, Ohio (October 18, 2006) - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity, unveiled today the Liebert Adaptive Power Witness Test Center to the more than 2,000 attendees at the company`s AdaptiveXchange event. The 25,600 square-foot test center, the largest testing facility of its kind, enables customers to test the performance, interoperability and efficiency of critical power systems that protect data centers and other business-critical facilities.

Located at the Emerson Network Power manufacturing center in Delaware, Ohio, the Liebert Adaptive Power Witness Test Center provides complete pre-installation testing of large UPS systems, including the Liebert Series 610 UPS line, along with associated support systems, such as input/output distribution switchgear, data center static transfer switches and flywheel DC energy storage units. UPS modules are tested independently, and then as part of a complete power system, allowing customers to document the performance of multi-module UPS systems prior to installation. Customers and consulting engineers are encouraged to witness the testing in person and will soon be able to participate in the testing process remotely via the Internet, as an alternate to attending in person.

"The ability to test individual UPS modules as well as complete UPS systems is essential to a smooth, rapid installation and commissioning of large UPS power systems," said Randy MacCleary, vice president and general manager, Liebert Power Solutions at Emerson Network Power. "Only Emerson Network Power can provide complete system testing of this magnitude, and with the Liebert Adaptive Power Witness Test Center we are able to offer our customers expanded testing capabilities and an enhanced testing environment."

The test center opened with four, 4 MW capacity test bays (four UPS power modules per test bay), each of which supports Steady State, Dynamic, Overload and Fault testing. The test bays can be interconnected for even greater capacity. Eight additional test bays are scheduled to open early in 2007, including three bays dedicated to Static Transfer Switch testing and five bays dedicated to medium and large single module UPS system testing. Additional testing capabilities will also be enabled at that time, including single-button initiation of test procedures, and web-enabled remote witness testing.

Large system testing typically takes approximately five days to complete. As part of the test procedures, technicians confirm the functionality of subsystems as well as the complete system while monitoring voltage, current, frequency and watts on all I/O breakers for each test phase. The test center has a total capacity of 8 MW, but can support higher capacities through an onsite 1.75 MW 50/60 Hz engine-generator, as well as plug-ins for additional generators.

Customers and consulting engineers can view the entire process from the state-of-the-art witness test center observation station overlooking the test bays. Four LCD panel displays offer customers easy access to relevant test data, including waveforms, testing procedures and test results. Customers also receive a final report of the test results.

The Liebert Adaptive Power Witness Test Center is part of an expansion and modernization of Emerson`s Delaware, Ohio manufacturing center. The 147,000 square-foot facility currently houses manufacturing assembly for a variety of Liebert power management products, including Liebert Series 610 UPS, Liebert Static Transfer Switches, Liebert FPC, Liebert FDC, and Liebert RDC. In addition to the company`s headquarters in Columbus, this facility is one of more than 13 Liebert manufacturing operations around the world.
