Emerson Network Power Expands ASTEC 1U Switcher Family to Add 24V Output for HIigh-Density Distributed Architecture Applications

New 350W High-Efficiency Bulk Switcher Features Power-Factor-Correction,
Or-ing Diode, Standby and Auxiliary Outputs

CARLSBAD, Calif. - December 6, 2006 - Emerson Network Power, a business of
Emerson (NYSE:EMR), has expanded its popular Astec NTS Series family of 350-Watt bulk
AC-DC switching power supplies (astecpower.com) to include new 24V output
configurations. Available with convection cooling or optional forced-air, the compact units are
designed for use in distributed power architecture configurations. The new NTS355 models
feature a compact 4-inch by 7-inch footprint to achieve a high-density 8.3W per cubic inch. The
convection-cooled configuration provides 200W for 1U (1.75-inch high) rack-mount chassis
and other low-profile applications, while the fan-cooled option supplies the full rated output up
to 50°C with 30 CFM forced air. For added flexibility, the units can be set up for lengthwise or
crosswise airflow.

Operating at 85 percent efficiency, the devices incorporate active power factor correction to
minimize input harmonic distortion and the switchers accept input from 85-264VAC or 120-
320VDC. Also suited for use as AC-DC front ends for DC-DC converters, the units can be
used in a wide variety of applications including telecommunications, networking, test and
measurement, single-board computers and gigabit Ethernet devices. A built-in Or-ing diode
eliminates the need for external circuitry when using the device in a redundant configuration.
The units also include a 12V 1A auxiliary output and 5V at 2A standby output as well as
overload, over-voltage and thermal protection.

All models in the Astec NTS350 Series incorporate built-in Class B EMI filtering, remote sense,
remote inhibit and single-wire parallel on the primary output that enables current-sharing to
balance loads. With an operating temperature range of zero to 50°C without derating, the units
can function up to 70°C by derating the output 2.5 percent per degree C. They comply with IEC
EN61000-3-2 harmonic and IEC EN61000-4-X susceptibility standards.

Available now, pricing starts at $299 in OEM quantities. Forced-air units with a top cover fan
are designated by a -CF suffix on the model number. For more information, please contact an
