Elekta Introduces Information-guided Cancer Care, Highlighting Knowledge Management, at ASTRO 2014

SAN FRANCISCO - At the 56(th) Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), September 14-16 in San Francisco, Elekta (booth #1308) will highlight solutions that support the connections health care providers make to their practices, their patients and the world.

Elekta's theme at ASTRO 2014 is: Connected Care. Because the future is collaborative. As software continues to play a critical role in cancer care, Elekta will highlight Information-guided cancer care™, an Elekta concept that will transform cancer care by enabling clinicians to connect with the information they need to treat patients more effectively.

A key cornerstone of Information-guided cancer care is Elekta's Knowledge Management platform, an oncology analytics solution that provides real-time dashboards and reports to help improve the quality of cancer care. As the operator of the largest aggregated oncology repository in the market, with more than two million patients, Elekta will showcase its Healthcare Analytics* dashboards and robust visualization tools at ASTRO.

"Aside from oncology data, our analytics solutions will help our users to collect, aggregate and analyze big data that patients are generating throughout the experience, regardless of the source. This data will help patients and physicians in the treatment decision making process," says Todd Powell, Executive Vice President, Elekta Software. "Today, about two-thirds of patients are treated without using evidence-based protocols. With our Healthcare Analytics solutions, providers will be able to measure, monitor and establish comprehensive cancer care best practices, while adhering to regulatory guidelines."

"As we move forward together, our goal is to help you efficiently deliver the best possible cancer care: connected care," says Jay Hoey, Executive Vice President, Elekta North America. "We are committed to comprehensive care that reaches across disciplines, care that keeps patients at the center. We design technologies that help you manage your practice and treat your patients efficiently, and we create knowledge systems that help you connect with other clinicians as you work to improve outcomes."
