Red Bluff, CA - Electro Star Industrial Coating, Inc., a production partner to manufacturers and vendors in the aerospace and defense industries, has been certified in the AS9100C quality management standard. The certification is required in order to comply with military and aerospace quality requirements.
For 25 years, Electro Star has been providing solutions and developing procedures with precision powder coating services for the defense and aerospace industries. The AS9100 C certification will enable Electro Star to maintain a strong standing and expand its work with these industries.
The company previously had a quality system that mirrored the requirements of this major international standard, but now Electro Star has won certification based on audits of its quality management system, enabling Electro Star to meet newer customer requirements. AS9100C is a quality standard specific to the aerospace and defense industries. It was prepared by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) for the purpose of establishing global standards. Revision C is the current edition of the standard.
The AS9100C standards require companies seeking certification to establish processes for project management, risk management, configuration management, and work transfer control. The certification will increasingly be demanded in the defense, aviation, and space industries.

Electro Star's Certificate of Registration states that the quality management system of Electro Star Industrial Coating, Inc. "has been assessed for conformance with the provisions set forth by ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100 Rev C." In order to achieve the certification, the company's processes were audited by a registrar from ISA, the International Standards Authority, Inc. ISA's website states that the "AS9100 standard is designed to meet stringent, complex and unique demands of the defense and commercial Aerospace industry." While similar to ISO 9001:2008, AS9100 has "nearly 100 additional requirements specific to Aerospace." Product safety and reliability are the major concerns of the AS9100 quality management audit.
