Program Reaches Milestone with 100th Certification

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA, July 27, 2009 - IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries® announces eight newly certified EMS program managers, under the IPC EMS Program Manager Training and Certification Program. With this recent group, IPC has certified over 100 EMS program managers. The newly certified EMS program managers are:

  • Jason Roe, Erni Electronics Inc.
  • Haresh Patel, M-Flex (Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc)
  • Vipul Shah, M-Flex (Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc)
  • Tony Duval, Phoenix International Corp.
  • Dan Van Brunt, Phoenix International Corp.
  • J. Chris Iverson, Raven Industries
  • David Taylor, Syncro Corporation
  • Deborah Smith, Teledyne Electronics Manufacturing Services

The training program, developed with input from the IPC EMS Management Council, teaches and tests specific skills for EMS program managers such as operations, finance, contract, time management and leadership. The comprehensive training program is designed for experienced managers, new managers and managers in training within the EMS industry and is separated into four segments: Introduction to EMS Training and Program Management; EMS Training I (self-study/online tutorial); EMS Training II; and EMS Leadership Training. Certified EMS program manager (CEPM) status is earned after successfully completing the program's series of courses, passing a final certification exam and satisfying work experience time requirements.

"IPC's CEPM program provided a great opportunity to expand and refine my skill set -especially useful in the current market economy. The course presentations were interactive and informative while covering a broad base of real topics in the EMS industry. This certification offering has increased my competitive advantage enabling me to effectively contribute to my company's business outcomes," said Tony Duval, Phoenix International Corp.

"When an EMS program manager is properly trained and certified, the benefits to the individual, their company and the industry as a whole are numerous. When they better understand the industry, they can identify key issues important to their OEM customers, apply successful problem-solving techniques to specific EMS situations, and work toward meeting their organization's goals," adds Susan Filz, IPC director of industry programs.
