Efficient, Customized Solutions for Pipe, Profile and Sheet Production

After a successful K show, battenfeld-cincinnati is now showing its latest developments at Interplast 2014 in Joinville, Brazil, booth 16. The focus will be on energy-efficient, high-performance equipment for producing pipe, profile and sheet.

battenfeld-cincinnati offers its customers a wide range of complete extrusion lines and equipment, ranging from single and twin screw extruders to tooling and downstream equipment, optimized for energy efficiency, long service life and high performance. Cost and material-saving co-extrusion options for pipe and profiles are available as well.

Green Pipe concept – 30% energy savings, reductions in line length and sagging

Last year, a 2-layer co-extrusion pressure pipe line with an output of 750 kg/h and a line speed of 0.93 m/min was presented in production. The line consisted of uniEX and solEX extruders and a helix 250-3 VSI-T+ pipe die, battenfeld-cincinnati's Green Pipe downstream equipment and the EAC drying system from Labotek. With this set-up, energy savings of 30% were achieved in production.

helix VSI-T+ mono- and multi-layer pipe dies operate with the EAC (efficient air cooling) internal cooling system and a new, innovative "active melt cooling system". This improves pipe quality and signifi-cantly reduces sagging, which makes it ideal for large-diameter pipe extrusion and the production of pipes with high wall thicknesses.

Reliable PVC pipe lines for high flexibility and low material consumption

Last year, Brazilian pipe producer Plastilit Produtos Plásticos do Paraná Ltda. bought a PVC pipe production line from battenfeld-cincinnati. "Reliable machinery providing high-quality output, and good local service, are very important for us. This is why we bought another single strand extrusion line recently, which will be set up in our new plant," says Rafel Abage, owner of Plastilit. The company already owns four extrusion lines and a pelletizer from battenfeld-cincinnati, on which it produces PVC pipes, fittings and components for a variety of industries.

battenfeld-cincinnati recently introduced two new pipe heads for multi-layer PVC pipe production, the spider 200-3 and the spider 400-3. They offer high performance, optimal layer thickness distribution with narrow tolerances and short dwell times and can also be converted easily for two-layer applications. In October 2013, battenfeld-cincinnati presented a spider 400-3 pipe head in a PVC foam core line for pipes with a diameter of 160 mm and an output of 1,000 kg/h. The three-layer pipes that were produced had an extremely low weight per meter.

Top-of-the-range pelletizing equipment

Recycling is a valuable contribution to the conservation of resources. battenfeld-cincinnati offers customized turnkey pelletizing lines and optimized machine concepts for top-quality PVC reclaim.

Recently, the Polish company Metal-Plast, one of the largest PVC pro-cessors in Europe, purchased its fifth pelletizing line from battenfeld-cincinnati. "We have been operating with extrusion equipment from battenfeld-cincinnati for almost 8 years", says Metal-Plast's Managing Director. "After also purchasing some equipment from other suppliers and testing it under production conditions, we came back to the technology from battenfeld-cincinnati every time. We were particularly satisfied with the equipment's long service life under tough production conditions and its easy operation."

Lower energy costs in thermoforming sheet production

battenfeld-cincinnati's high-speed single screw extruder series cuts energy costs by 25% compared to conventional extruders with the same output, but with a much more compact design. The four models of the series achieve outputs of up to 1,500 kg/h for PP and up to 2,000 kg/h for PS. Despite the enormous screw speeds, high-end technology ensures optimal melt processing and therefore best possible product quality.

At an Open House in October 2013, battenfeld-cincinnati first showed its innovative Multi-Touch roll stack in production in a line, where it impressed visitors with absolutely even cooling and calibration of the sheet on both sides, and with extremely narrow thickness tolerances.
