Press release date: August 16, 2012
Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, Germany - Handling and logistics expert W. Strothmann GmbH has been renamed STROTHMANN Machines & Handling GmbH. CEO Derek P. Clark says, '"STROTHMANN" is an established brand for industrial automation and intralogistics. More than a decade after the death of company founder Wilfried Strothmann we change the name in order to succinctly communicate our performance range internationally.' STROTHMANN has distributors on three continents, a sales office in the USA, and a subsidiary in China. The company plans and integrates automation solutions, optimizing production processes throughout the value added chain. Streamlined processes lead to a higher throughput and lower operating costs. Customers and operators benefit from improvements in ergonomics as well as quality due to flexible part handling. The solutions are custom-made for each particular application. In 2011, STROTHMANN registered a record order intake of 38 million euros as well as the largest individual order in the company history: implementing new automation technology in five press lines for Volkswagen.
Company Background STROTHMANN has been a force of innovation in transport and handling facilities ever since the company was founded in 1976. With decades of experience in press shop automation, STROTHMANN supplies complete handling solutions for press lines, from destackers, blank loaders and sophisticated centering stations to highly dynamic stacking and destacking feeders including suction frames and tooling systems as well as control and information systems. STROTHMANN's MagShuttle(TM), which features linear inductive motors, demonstrates the untapped potential of LinearRobot technology. The patented RoundTrack® floor rail system enables users to implement new, productive forms of organization in flow production lines. Due to an extremely low rolling resistance, RoundTracks® allow for simple and inexpensive planar transport of heavy loads within a production site, e.g. in airplane and wind turbine production. STROTHMANN's highly dynamic linear feeders, which are patented as well, are used in a wide range of logistics solutions in the derived timber and automotive industries and other industrial automation applications.
