Press release date: May 14, 2009

May 14, 2009, Barrington, NJ. - Researchers and developers working in the growing solar field now have a new resource available. Edmund Optics (EO), the premier provider of optical components, has released a catalog featuring twelve product lines that address the production, inspection, and deployment of photovoltaic solutions. From Fresnel Lenses, large aspheric condensers and CPCs to light pipes and reflectors, EO's extensive collection of solar optics are designed to provide efficient light collection for the most challenging "green" applications.

"Many of our components have been used in photovoltaic applications for years," said Marisa Edmund, EO's vice president of marketing. "Now we have made it easy for developers to find what they are looking for all in one location."

EO offers a wide variety of solar optical components supporting photovoltaic technologies, including components for collecting and focusing solar energy, components for advancing LED technology, and the ability to design and fabricate custom components through its extensive global manufacturing network. Some of the featured products in the new catalog include:

o Compound Parabolic Concentrators, providing a wide acceptance angle for light collection and concentration without the need for tracking the sun's movement.

o Precision Ellipsoidal and Parabolic Reflectors, to simplify optical design and handling high-divergent light sources such as LEDs.

o TECHSPEC Tapered Light Pipes, for homogenizing the output of non-uniform light sources.

In addition to solar optical components, EO offers sensors, cameras, and lenses suitable for solar cell and panel manufacturing inspection, including wide-format lenses capable of resolving defects as small as 5 um on a 5-inch field of view. EO's Vision Integration Partner program makes the company uniquely suited to assist customers in the development and deployment of photovoltaic solar inspection systems.
