Toronto, Canada - GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) is offering this easy-to-operate optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) for use in CATV, ISP and telecommunication fiber networks. It displays line length, attenuation coefficient, connection point, fault points and loss distribution curves of the fiber, as well as, loss between two points, splice loss and return loss. This OTDR is commonly used in loss characteristics analysis and fault point location in fiber manufacture, installation and maintenance.
This portable OTDR, model 3620, features a compact size and offers two on screen markers that can be used to zoom in and out on curve details. It automatically locates and creates a list of fault points. The OTDR also has a rapid response time allowing it to finish 50 km of fiber measurement in 30 s with a high S/N ratio. The reflectometer provides up to six different sets of test result comparisons simultaneously while any single result is observable. The test results and event analysis lists can be printed out through the print-screen-function and can be uploaded to a computer via the communication interface. In addition, its large battery capacity enables continuous operation for more than 12 hours.
