EarlySense Announces Patient Rest Indicator for Better Patient Supervision at Night
Participation in New England's Israel Business Council Event with Governor Patrick Signifies the Company's Growth and Accomplishments Both Locally and Globally
WALTHAM, Mass. — EarlySense, the market leader in Proactive Patient Care Solutions, unveiled today at New England's Israel Business Council Event that the company will be introducing several new features to the EarlySense System in January 2014. One significant feature is a Patient Rest Indicator which will give caregivers indication of a patient's level of rest and motion while in bed. This will become an important indication for when patients are preparing to get out of bed during the night, opposed to existing solutions that alarm only after the patient has left the bed. Now clinical teams can be proactive in getting to the bedside prior to risky situations developing.
In a research presented at Computing in Cardiology 2013 Conference, EarlySense engineers demonstrated the ability of the technology to accurately identify pending bed exit situations more than 50 seconds before they occur. "This new feature will give clinicians an added tool to use in helping further reduce harm to patients. Our users report that actively monitoring patients without ever having to touch the patient improves their workflow tremendously," said Tim O'Malley, President of EarlySense.

The EarlySense System is being used in Newton Wellesley Hospital of Newton, Massachusetts and Metro West Medical Center of Framingham, Massachusetts. The Ribbon cutting ceremony for the EarlySense System at Metro West was led by Governor Patrick in September of 2011.
