Eagle Technology, Inc (Eagle) announced their participation in the March 2010 COBie2 Challenge in Baltimore, MD during the annual NFMT show. "We feel COBie compliance is a major step in the right direction for the construction industry" according to Harshad Shah, president of Eagle. "One of the major issues companies faced in the past was the population of data after the building was completed. COBie is an open standard for the exchange of facility information using data which already exists in Building Information Modeling (BIM) Systems to populate Eagles' facility maintenance management system."
The National Institute for Building Sciences (NIBS) and buildingSMART alliance have been instrumental in promoting a new facilities management communications protocol called the Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie). And once again, NFMT is one of only a few limited venues across the country that was chosen by NIBS and the buildingSMART alliance to host the COBie2 Challenge.
The event, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 puts suppliers and users of the application to test in a live competition, is open and free to all NFMT registered attendees. The challenge will demonstrate how CMMS, CAFM and CADD programs handle facility data in a real-world, real-time environment.

WHO IS ORGANIZING THE COBIE2 CHALLENGE?
The Challenge is jointly organized by the National Institute of Building Science and TradePress Publications, the company organizing the NFM&T show. The moderator and judge for the Challenge is Dr. Bill East, Research Civil Engineer, Engineer Research and Development Center. Dr. East is the principal author of the COBie2 format and has been the moderator for several previous COBie events.
