ETSM's customer base spans North America, Europe and Australia, with major clients like ABB and Siemens interested in coil-winding solutions for their transformer applications.
ETSM, from its 50,000 square foot headquarters in Guelph, manufactures its own product line of coil-winding systems, enclosures and related equipment for the electrical transformer and utility industries, while producing custom fabrications, machine guarding, automotive fixturing and replacement parts for regional customers in energy, automotive and mining industries. The company has three principal lines of business: custom machine design and manufacture, powder coating and custom fabrication.
"A client comes to us with a concept or a design in machining, and we work with them to produce exactly what they want," said administrative vice-president Christine Dempsey. "And there are very few companies in Canada who manufacture coil-winding equipment."
Using machines like the 4000-watt CL-840 laser, in combination with newer CNC machines like the coil press and coil winder, ETSM can meet any customers' need, whether it's a large order or a "one-off" project.
The company has grown consistently since its founding and now operates two buildings; the headquarters and a powder-coating facility also in Guelph.
