EMTEQ Brings In-Flight Wireless Entertainment to the Pilatus PC-12 NG
New Berlin, Wis., USA – Wireless IFE (In Flight Entertainment) by eConnect™ will now be standard equipment on new production Pilatus PC-12 NGs outfitted with executive interiors. As a new option for line fit PC-12 NG aircraft, Wireless IFE by eConnect allows passengers to wirelessly stream content using their WiFi enabled devices. As an AVOD (Audio and Video On Demand) media server, Wireless IFE by eConnect allows passengers access to movies, music, XM satellite radio (US only), and an interactive 2D moving map. The moving map functionality tracks location, speed, altitude, flight time, and flight plan with features allowing the passengers to choose what they want to display on their Apple, Android, or Windows Personal Electronic Devices. The system also provides the foundation for future in-flight internet access options that Pilatus plans to certify in the coming year.
This option will be on display at EBACE 2014, in Geneva, Switzerland, in Pilatus's PC-12 NG demonstrator at the static exhibit. Ignaz Gretener, Vice President of the General Aviation Business Unit for Pilatus Aircraft Ltd stated, "We are pleased to offer this state-of-the-art wireless entertainment system to our PC-12 NG customers. Due to the long certification timelines, it has always been difficult to keep in-flight entertainment systems current with what is available commercially on the ground. With this new system from EMTEQ, our customers can now easily integrate their preferred PEDs with the PC-12 NG, and enjoy an uninterrupted digital media experience in their aircraft. It is also a system that can grow with new technology and provide value for many years in the future." FAA certification of this installation will be available mid-2014, while EASA certification will be available Fall of 2014. This installation will be available in the aftermarket as a retrofit option beginning in the first quarter of 2015.
