When you refer to tubing like this you refer to it as bending it in the easy plane or the hard plane. This tool set was designed to bend in the hard plane. The easy plane would be bent with the tube at 90 degrees. It is much easier to bend rectangular shapes or irregular shapes in the easy plane.
This tool set incorporates several unique features. If you look closely at the clamp and pressure die you will notice an extended lip on the top of the dies. The reason for this is that when they are retracted after the bend, the tube will be released so that it can feed forward for the next bend. Without this feature the machine would have to incorporate a split bend die option, allowing the bend die to separate to release the tube.
Another feature is the clamp die and the bend die insert area has a special coating that we offer called flame spray. This coating will help the clamp die from slipping during the bending operations. We can offer this coating in (6) individual grades, depending on the gripping required. This coating is very durable.
The mandrel assembly incorporates chain links rather than the standard ball and socket type like round mandrels use. The advantage with this design is that it much stronger than the ball and socket design. The disadvantage with this design is that it will only flex in one direction
