Press release date: June 12, 2012

Measurement Specialties, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEAS) has recently redesigned the EGCS-D0 accelerometer to enable it to accurately and reliably measure up to ±10,000g. This rugged device is critically damped, which is the ideal mechanism to protect the accelerometer against ±20,000g impacts and prevent sensor ringing. The EGCS-D0 accelerometer is now available in ranges from ±5g to ±10,000g which makes it ideal for both critical low-g measurements and high-g impacts. These units feature a Wheatstone Bridge mV output with a standard compensated temperature range of 20ºC to 80ºC (other options available).

The EGCS-D0 was specifically designed for impact and shock testing in auto safety, aerospace, military and civil engineering applications. Designed to be bolt-mounted, this device operates from 2-15Vdc excitation with electrical output ratiometric to voltage input. Optional triaxial mounting blocks (MTG-F4), signal conditioners (Model 101) and auto-zero inline amplifiers (Model 140) are available for ease of installation.

Each unit is packaged with an NIST traceable calibration certificate. Post sale factory calibration is supported by MEAS' California Vibration Design Center and its two manufacturing facilities in China and France. These devices are EAR99 export compliant and warranted for a period of one year from date of shipment to original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship.

Measurement Specialties, Inc. designs and manufactures sensors and sensor-based systems. The company produces a wide variety of sensors and transducers to measure precise ranges of physical characteristics such as pressure, force, vibration, torque, position, temperature, humidity, fluid properties, mass air flow and photo optics. Measurement Specialties uses multiple advanced technologies - including piezo-resistive, electro-optic, electro-magnetic, variable reluctance, magneto resistive, digital encoders, thermistors, thermocouples, RTDs, capacitive, resonant beam, application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), piezoelectric polymers and strain gauges to engineer sensors that operate accurately and cost-effectively in customers' applications.
