Press release date: September 22, 2011

Green Bay, Wisconsin - EDL Packaging Engineer's signature Double Tight Wrap technology with vision guided robotics will be on display at Pack Expo International in booth C-2808. The DTW system demonstrated in Las Vegas is configured for bundling of paper or plastic bagged products.

EDL's Double Tight Wrap bundling system is built to specific product requirements using historically proven, integrated servo technology. Combined with a vision guided robotic system, the DTW provides maximum flexibility of product handling. The vision guided robotic feature allows the end user to utilize a wide variety of side laying, paper and plastic pre-made pouch styles including quad seal gable top, stand-up pouches and pillow bags. The precise handling of bagged products, in concert with the Double Tight Wrap system, facilitates tightly wrapped bundles for improved product pallet stacking without using excess film.

EDL's unique Double Tight Wrap system uses constant mechanical tension to create a tight wrap of film around the bundle, while using as much as 45% less film and less energy than traditional shrink bundling methods and up to 85% material cost savings when compared to corrugated packaging methods. By using a low energy heat tunnel, the Double Tight Wrap system can wrap filled plastic bags and pouches without the risk of fusing laminate and film. Double film coverage protects damage-prone corners and edges and allows cost effective, lighter film gauges to be used.

With over 40 years of packaging industry experience, EDL Packaging Engineers, Inc., designs and manufactures end-of-line packaging machinery for a wide variety of products serving the consumer, pharmaceutical, industrial, pet food, agriculture, and food and beverage industries. Every EDL packaging system is designed to reduce packaging costs by minimizing energy usage and material waste. Designed to collate and bundle consumer and industrial products, EDL's packaging machinery uses cost effective, 100% recyclable Low Density Polyethylene Film (LDPE).
