EASTEC to Feature New Professional Development Sessions



Admission to Manufacturing Brilliance Theater is Complimentary for Registered Attendees



DEARBORN, Mich. – EASTEC, the largest manufacturing exposition and conference in the Northeast, will feature new conference tracks focused on continuous improvement, advanced manufacturing and workforce development, according to the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).



“We want to bring value to the EASTEC experience so attendees can implement strategies to grow their businesses, reduce costs, and attract and maintain an educated workforce,” said Kim Farrugia, SME senior show manager.



Specific sessions include lean manufacturing, visual management, advanced CAM tools, strategic management of an automated environment, applications of reverse engineering, light scanning for metrology, and addressing the skills gap through collaboration.



Presenters include the Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership; CONNSTEP; University of Massachusetts Innovation Institute; Massachusetts Extended Partnership (MassMEP); Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT); University of Massachusetts – Lowell; New England Institute of Technology; Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing (RCNGM), College of Technology.



More than 10,000 manufacturing professionals are expected to attend the event, which alternates years with Mfg4 – Manufacturing for the Future. EASTEC features resource centers, keynote speakers, panels and exhibits on growth industries including aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, commerical machinery, electronics, fabricating and plastics. More than 500 exhibitors are expected at the 2013 event, including industry leaders Brooks Associates, Compumachine Inc., Delcam, FANUC FA America, FARO Technologies, Mitsubishi and Pratt & Whitney. Attendee registration for the exposition is now open.



New features for 2013 include a panel discussion on workforce development the first day of the event, a competitive student manufacturing event for regional high schools, new networking opportunities and area plant tours.



EASTEC 2013 takes place May 14-16 at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Mass. The event layout is organized in five exhibit categories to help attendees navigate the grounds: Design, Engineering, and Rapid Technologies; Tooling, Workholding and Machining Accessories; Automation, Quality and Process Improvement; Plant, Energy, and Environmental Efficiency; and Precision Manufacturing Equipment and Systems.
