DuPont to Divest Fluometuron Assets

MANA Acquires DuPont(TM) Cotoran® Herbicide

WILMINGTON, Del., and RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 5 - DuPont (NYSE:DD) and Makhteshim Agan of North America, Inc. (MANA) today announced that they have reached an agreement for MANA to acquire DuPont(TM) Cotoran® herbicide, a popular herbicide used in cotton across the South, the Southeast and Texas. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Cotoran®, with the active ingredient fluometuron, offers premier control of pre- and post-emergence broadleaf weeds and annual grasses. Cotoran® 4L will remain available from MANA in the 4-pound liquid formulation, providing a low-cost, effective solution to glyphosate resistance and the same foundational weed control growers have grown accustomed to.

"MANA offers one of the most comprehensive and diversified portfolios in the crop protection industry and Cotoran® will be a great addition," MANA Senior Marketing Manager for herbicides David Downing, said. "We focus on providing North American growers with what they want and what they need to be successful in today's global market. Cotoran® has been an important product for cotton growers across the country for many years, and will become even more significant as glyphosate resistance becomes more of a national issue."

"This represents another step in the DuPont Crop Protection strategy to bring greater focus to our business," James C. Collins, vice president and general manager -- DuPont Crop Protection, said. "Divesting select assets such as these allows us to focus our resources on the exciting new products in our pipeline -- such as DuPont(TM) Altacor(TM), Coragen(TM) and Prevathon(TM) insecticides, based on our innovative Rynaxypyr(TM) chemistry."

MANA has been the sole supplier of the active ingredient fluometuron to DuPont since 1999. As part of the Cotoran® acquisition, MANA receives all registrations, regulatory data, trademark rights and existing inventories of the herbicide. MANA also becomes the primary distributor for fluometuron formulations in the United States.
