Dr. Darla Goeres is Honored for Contributions to ASTM Committee on Pesticides, Antimicrobials and Alternative Control Agents
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., —ASTM International Committee E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials and Alternative Control Agents has presented the Chip Collins Award to Darla Goeres, Ph.D., assistant research professor of chemical and biological engineering at the Center for Biofilm Engineering, Montana State University, Bozeman, Mo.
The Chip Collins Award was established in 2010 to recognize and honor individuals who have made exemplary technical, practical and/or administrative contributions to Committee E35 over a continuous period of time. Goeres was honored for her innovation and contributions to the development of E35 biofilm standards. She has been a member of ASTM International since 2000 and currently serves as E35 recording secretary.
An alumna of Montana State, Goeres holds a B.S. in chemical engineering and an M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering, all from MSU. A faculty fellow in the MSU Honors College, she has been an assistant research professor at the university since 2006 and has served as the standardized biofilm methods coordinator in the Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) since 2000. She received the CBE Outstanding Faculty Award in 2008.
Goeres was recently awarded a core Fulbright Scholarship Grant and will pursue research and begin teaching in Finland starting in January 2014. The core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program provides approximately 800 teaching and/or research grants to U.S. faculty and experienced professionals in a wide variety of academic and professional field; grants are available in more than 125 countries.
